Anna and the French Kiss is the perfect breezy read.
Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris--until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all...including a serious girlfriend.
But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss? (summary provided by Goodreads)
Setting:
I loved how the Paris scenery tied into the story. I have read many other books that are set in great places, and the author does not use that to their advantage.
Characters:
I had very mixed feelings about Anna. At some parts of the novel, I liked her. This was because she actually set standards for herself. Other times, she just pissed me off. This is because she kept reuniting with St. Clair and then pushing him away. I got pretty sick of it after the fifth time or so.
Etienne St. Clair was an amazing character. He was adorable and flawed in his own sort of way.
Plot:
The story was very adorable- perfect to cleanse your palette after reading a lot of intense books. The storyline was overly cheesy either, and it could have been.
Perfect for Fans of:
Books by Sarah Dessen, such as Along for the Ride and This Lullaby
Rating:
3.75/5 stars
Overall, the book was very cute and fluffy. Stephanie Perkins had a writing style perfect for the plot. I will definitely be heading out soon to pick up the next book in the series.
Nice review, Katie! And I've followed some of your youtubes as well.
ReplyDeleteI just read Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers - historical/fantasy book set in Brittany. Have you read it? It is the beginning of a series called His Fair Assassin.
Keep up the reviewing. You have some excellent insights.
Thank you! I actually just recently read Grave Mercy and thought it was an amazing series. I really liked the historical plot.
